Olina, Hawai’i – June 12, 2016 – John Erickson was inducted as the 2016 Executive Committee Chair for the Hawaii Food Industry Association, the leading voice of Hawaii’s food industry representing more than 200 retailers, manufacturers, and distributors.
John brings a wealth of leadership experience and longstanding service to Hawaii’s food industry to his new post as HFIA Chairman. He joined the organization in 2007, and previously served as the association’s secretary, treasurer, and vice chairman in past years before being inducted as chairman this month.
“The food industry is so vital here, but underappreciated,” John shares in the Convention 2016 issue of Hawaii Retail Grocer. “There are threats to the industry and HFIA is the most prominent group representing it. HFIA is critical for Hawaii… it’s unique in that it provides a venue for retailers, suppliers, and support members to come together and positively affect Hawaii. Even when we’re competitors, we’re all in it together. We’re moving forward an agenda that’s good for our industry and good for Hawaii.”
John joined Young’s in 2015 with 23 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, having served in sales and finance leadership roles at Frito Lay North America, Tropicana Products, and PepsiCo. As Executive Vice President/General Manager for Young’s Hawaii business unit, John provides leadership for sales, marketing, and operations. Born and raised in Hawaii, John holds his MBA from Chaminade University in Honolulu.
